(NCTA) announced today that
Chicago's newly inaugurated mayor,
Rahm Emanuel, will speak at the
opening General Session of The
Cable Show 2011, NCTA's 60th
Annual Convention and International
Exposition,
June 14-16 at
McCormick Place in Chicago.

Mayor Emanuel will appear on
Tuesday, June 14 at 10:30 a.m. in
the North Hall.

Beauty Show, March 12‐14, at McCormick Place in downtown Chicago. The
success of the 86 year old America’s Beauty Show (formerly The Midwest
Beauty Show®) also re‐emphasized that the thousands and thousands of
salon professionals who attended wanted to see what’s new, what’s
downtown Chicago.

Cosmetologists Chicago®, the organization of more than 7,000 salon owners, professionals
and students that owns and produces America’s Beauty Show, planned a blockbuster
schedule of events to meet, and exceed, the expectations of the thousands of professionals
in attendance.

• The gala Red Carpet Premiere of the acclaimed documentary that gives hope and
inspiration to beauty professionals the world over ‐ VIDAL SASSOON THE MOVIE! Plus, a
special appearance by Vidal Sassoon himself. Every attendee at America’s Beauty Show will
receive a DVD of the film when released later in 2011.
• The triumphant return of BehindTheChair.com’s Stylist Choice Awards for a second great
year at America’s Beauty Show.
• 2011 Salon Owner Business Forum: Smart Thinking, Straight Talk ‐ Sponsored by America’
s Beauty Show and P&G Salon Professional, the Forum featured in‐depth research on client‐
based salon design; a panel of top salon owners and the beauty editors of four leading
consumer magazines – all talking about what their clients and readers want; salon business
guru Neil Ducoff; and a networking lunch for owners. The Forum was also webcast live on
pgsalonpro.com. Salon Today is the Multi‐Media Partner of the ABS Business Forum.

• The 2011 ABS School Assembly, a gathering of several thousand future beauty
professionals, included a special appearance by celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson,
spokesperson for the American Association of Cosmetology Schools BEAUTY CHANGES
LIVES program presented at the Assembly, that encourages creative
young people to enter, and be successful, in professional beauty. The first ever P&G salon
Professional Student Stylist Competition finals were also a featured event at America’s
Beauty Show.

ON THE RUNWAY
Talent and creativity ruled the ABS Runway, our fashion‐forward main stage. Inspiration for
stylists and clients alike came from industry icons including:
• The one & only Vivienne Mackinder and the Intercoiffure America/Canada Artistic Team,
showing lush,
lovely and hot, hot, hot looks for the season;
• The major excitement of Anthony Mascolo, TIGI’s international creative director and
worldwide style setter;
• The exclusive USA Appearance of Irvine and Louise Rusk, bringing their signature brand of
Scottish appeal
back to American stylists who have missed the man…and his work;
• Intercoiffure Hair Color Council leaders Gina Khan and Jo Blackwell‐Preston previewed
color trends and
introduce their not‐to‐be‐missed Master Class;
• Nick Arrojo and the ARROJO artistic team revealed the latest trends and techniques in
scissor and razor
cutting, and fashion‐forward styling;
• “PURE EDUCATION” featuring Zak Mascolo and the TONI&GUY Artistic Team;
• Yolly ten Koppel of Amsterdam brought the Pivot Point global experience to ABS;
• Mark Hayes and the Sassoon Academy Creative Team wowed the crowds with show
stopping fashion;
• FOR THE FIRST TIME ‐ The International Nail Technicians Association (INTA) and CND
Shellac presented Fashion Focus for Nails on the ABS Runway.

ON THE ABS EXHIBIT FLOOR
As always, salon pros had the opportunity to see, learn and purchase from the leading
companies in the professional beauty industry. At ABS, beauty was delivered by hundreds of
manufacturers and distributors offering the newest products, tools and equipment for hair,
skin and nail care to make a salon business successful.

The three laragest companies in the professional beauty industry—L’Oreal Professional,
P&G Salon Professional and John Paul Mitchell Systems—chose America’s Beauty Show for
their exhibit presence in the Midwest this spring.

Aquage, TIGI, Farouk, Pravana, Screen Professional Hair Care, Moroccanoil, Vidal Sassoon
and Toni & Guy Academy were also exclusively at America’s Beauty Show in March.

Face & Body Midwest, presented by Skin Inc. magazine, again co‐located with America’s
Beauty Show. This popularand respected Esthetics Conference and Expo (formerly America’
s Expo for Skincare and Spa) was open to all ABS
attendees.

The Makeup Show co‐located with America’s Beauty Show after successful events in New
York City, Miami and Los Angeles. This new conference‐within‐ABS brings in‐depth
education for hairstylists, skin care professionals and makeup artists. Leaders in make‐up
design taught the latest techniques and pro‐driven companies presented the newest
products in seminars, forums and hands‐on workshops.

In Bringing Beauty

Adel is a creative and innovative
hairstylist and makeup artist based in
Chicago with 15 years experience working
commercials and fashion shows. Currently
working at Spoil Me Hair Salon, and also
as a platform artist and educator for
TIGI/Bedhead.

Adel graduated from Pivot Point Intl.  Soon
after graduating she began her training
with Toni
& Guy, which lead into becoming part of
TIGI's Chicago artistic team and educator.  
With TIGI she travels to salons and
performs on stage teaching the latest
trends and techniques to other hairstylist.

Through TIGI she has also been given the
opportunity to take advance courses in hair
and make up which gives her techniques
to accomplish everyday looks to high
fashion couture work with hair and make
up.

Other formal training in Adel's career are
with Loreal, Goldwell, Rusk and Redkin to
give her extensive training in cutting,
coloring and styling.

Throughout her career, Adel has also
competed in many Avante Garde hair
shows for her excellence in updo's and
unique styling techniques.  She has also
placed many awards and continues to take
advance classes so she can develop new
styles and techniques for her
personal growth.  Adel is very experienced
with using hair pieces and accessories to
give a creative personalized look for
runway/fashion shows, photo shoots,
commercials, hair shows and weddings.
