Party gathered at the POST (Orso’s on Wells) for the 137th running of the Kentucky
Derby. The ladies where wearing their derby hats and the men where checking out
that famous Kentucky bourbon.

The mint juleps were flowing as the horses took to the gate. All eyes and derby hats
were glued to the TV as “Animal Kingdom” a 20-1 shot with a fill in jockey won the
coveted blanket of roses.

Who could have planned a better ending.

Until next time—that’s the chitchat from Gloria the Hat

The weekend of July 8-9-10 the Caravan landed on the South Eastside of
Chicago. The news labeled it as the “biggest single event since the 1933
World’s Fair.
The festival drew nearly 100,000 fans over the 3 days on the site of the old U.S.
Steel South Works Plant.  The weather was very cooperative, bright sunny
during the day, and of course that evening lake breeze.

“Gloria the Hat” watched from the VIP lounge as the Caravan took the stage
and played some of their very favorite songs such as Satellite, Number 41, and
Crash for the throngs of humanity. And I have to tell you-all you animal lovers-
Dave’s dogs made their way into the VIP section and they were as cute as
could be.  As far as the acoustics—well---the speakers where working just fine
as the music echoed across this great expanse. The Ferris wheel, the globe of
lights reflecting off the evening sky, and of course our beautiful Lake
Michigan as the backdrop made for a perfect concert venue.

Let’s keep a happy thought that because of the overwhelming success of the
concert other bands and special events will use this land as there next great
event!
