| GLORIA THE HAT GOES INTERNATIONAL Let’s see how they party on the other side of the world!! So the first issue is the luggage-yes there are limitations but that doesn’t stop the HAT—we’ll use trunks and make it work! HA!!! IF THERES A WILL THERE IS A WAY!!!! Let’s see 25 days—we will need at least 25 hats! First stop on this journey Venice Italy The City of Water & LOTS OF WATER Venice is located in northern Italy and the name is derived from the ancient tribe Veneti that inhabited the region in Roman times. Too many Venice is considered one of Europe’s most romantic cities built by man- ohhhhhh Amore!!! According to locals –they are not sinking- so we will be ok! (more pictures to follow on the return stop to Venice-I’ll be there twice) Stay tuned for updates from each port of call-the best is yet to come!! That’s that for chitchat from THE HAT! |

7th Annual For The Love of Chocolate Gala!
Gloria Hafer stands proud with her group of students from After School Matters at
the For The Love Of Chocolate Gala held at the 1st floor of the Merchandise Mart.
Tonight we are going to have fun!, was our first thought and we were right.
Covering events like this one was a joy. First of all, as a past concierge for the
Holiday Inn Mart Plaza, I walked these hallowed halls many times, 4,000,000 square
feet in fact. It was finished in 1930, and was the concept of the Marshall Field Family
in 1927 (although he passed before it was done) and then sold to the Kennedy family
in 1941 and has since then passed on to others.
Enjoying the scene that met us would have made these ancestors proud! Especially
with the wonderful assistance of The Food Channel!
Some of the exciting activities that were taking place included:
Over 60 participating chefs (both sweet and savory)
9.5' X 6' X 5' Replica of Cloud Gate covered entirely in Jelly Belly's by Students in
After School Matters with 400 Jelly Belly ® Jelly Beans per Square Foot
32 pastry chefs and models – in Full Food fashion show
Three visiting celebrity pastry chefs attended signing autographs by The Bean!
