Fire & Ice - Thodos Dance Chicago
By Steve Starr
The Great White Hall of the Chicago
History museum was a most
suitable ambience to compliment the
wonderful Fire & Ice benefit for
the very contemporary and innovative
Thodos Dance Chicago whose
members, led and inspired by the
imagination and phenomenal skill of
artistic director and event hostess Melissa
Thodos, have performed in
dozens of venues throughout the United
States and overseas.
In the lobby, guests were entertained by
pianist Bob Moreen and
singer Tommy Hensel. Following the
reception, buffet, and bidding on
a selection of outstanding auction items,
we were treated to the Fire
& Ice performances that were exciting,
intense, and enviously gorgeous, the
twelve dancers costumed by Vanessa J.
Arden.
Thodos Dance Chicago participates in
Dance For Life and Chicago Takes Off
and gifts tickets to the AIDS Foundation of
Chicago and TPAN as part of the
company's Partners in Performance
program.
After I photographed the beautiful guests
and dancers, at the end of the glittering
evening co-hostessed by the charming
and charismatic NBC5 news reporter Kim
Vatis, they even got me to dance the cha-
cha-cha for charity…I would have danced
anyway.
