Kathy was born and raised on the Northwest Side of Chicago and considers herself to be the
“ultimate city diva”. She received her education at DePaul University and The Institute of
Broadcast Arts.
Kathy began her career in broadcasting on the air, in clubs and at remotes. She has the
distinction of having been nominated 11 times for Female DJ of theYear with 6 wins – a record
that still stands today.
From broadcasting Kathy moved into event planning and production and began her own very
successful company which she owned and operated for many years. She branched out and did
event planning for sports teams, civic and corporate organizations and the Walt Disney Company.
Kathy then tweeked her career path a bit and moved to the “hotel” side of the hospitality
business. Today she holds the position of Corporate Sales Manager at the Holiday Inn Chicago
Mart Plaza in downtown Chicago.
Having been a (diva-in-training) and the a full-fledged diva all of her life, Kathy says she really does
relish the finer things in life and as a Baby Boomer has worked very hard for many years to be
able to enjoy life’s niceties. However, with the onset of the Recession, Kathy watched as so many
of these extras were slipping away. Needless to say, Kathy was not a happy diva and began to
analyze (or diva-tize) how to maintain a diva-lifestyle on a budget, for the times. She took her
thoughts and combined them with those of over 40 women and that became “Diva-Tize, Frugal is
the New Black, A Diva’s Guide to Thriving in the Recession and Beyond”.
Kathy’s life-mantra is to squeeze the joy of every second of each and every day and smile.
