LOOKINGGLASS THEATRE PRESENTS THE WORLD PREMIERE OF THE LOOKINGGLASS ORIGINAL TRUST DIRECTED BY ENSEMBLE MEMBERS DAVID SCHWIMMER AND HEIDI STILLMAN MARCH 3 – APRIL 25, 2010 Lookingglass Theatre Company presents Trust, written by Ensemble Member David Schwimmer and Andy Bellin, based on the screenplay by Andy Bellin and Rob Festinger and directed by Ensemble Members David Schwimmer and Heidi Stillman. The production begins previews March 3, 2010, with a press opening on March 13, 2010, at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson. Ensemble Members David Schwimmer and Heidi Stillman direct the World Premiere of his new script about a seemingly innocent online encounter that threatens to unravel the fabric of an American family. Using state of the art technology, Trust will be a cutting-edge theatrical experience, combining projection, video, photos, texting and live chat. As the internet increasingly becomes the hunting ground for sexual predators, Trust will serve to not only raise awareness but move and empower audiences to take action in their community and within their own families. The Trust Community Consortium has been formed to facilitate this action. Post-show discussions will take place after every performance to incite dialogue about these issues, and trained volunteers will be present in the lobby following each show. Rape Victim Advocates is the lead community partner in this initiative. The Trust Community Consortium also includes Chicago Alliance of Sex Exploitation, Chicago Foundation for Women, Human Rights Watch, Mujeres Latina En Accion, Pillars Community Services and the YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago. The play was brought to Lookingglass by David Schwimmer, who is a current board member of The Rape Foundation and an active supporter of the Rape Treatment Center in Los Angeles for more than ten years. “Lookinnglass is thrilled to be producing this original production. It is the issues in Trust that inspired David Schwimmer to create and direct this production and the company to produce it. Our hope is to create an exciting and important piece of theatre and that the play, film and our community partnerships will bring maximum attention to this important matter,” says Artistic Director David Catlin. Filming was recently completed in Michigan for a Millennium Films Projects version of Trust, directed by David Schwimmer and written by Andy Bellin. The film features Clive Owen and Catherine Keener as the parents of a 14-year old daughter, played by Liana Liberato, who is victimized in an online chat room. Lookingglass cast members Spencer Curnutt, Zanny Laird, Zoe Levin will also appear in the film. The cast includes Lookingglass Ensemble Members Christine Mary Dunford, Raymond Fox and Philip R. Smith with Amy J. Carle, Spencer Curnutt, Keith Kupferer, Zanny Laird, Zoe Levin, Marianna Oharenko, Morocco Omari, and Allison Torem. The design team includes Ensemble Member Dan Ostling (Set); Ensemble Member Mara Blumenfeld (Costume Design); Artistic Associate Christine Binder (Lighting); Artistic Associate Rick Sims and Michael Griggs (Sound Design); and William Anderson (Properties). The Multimedia Design is by Bridges Media. The design is dominated by projections with video, texting and live chatting. Much of this play's themes circle around this landscape and how, because of its pervasive quality, this new technology threatens the very fabric of our lives.
