
Mark Roberts is a native Chicagoan, raised in Hyde Park . Upon graduation from Morehouse
College in Atlanta , Mark began his professional career in New York City , where he spent twelve
years working in the utility, financial, real estate and hospitality industries. After spending the last
three years at the renowned Waldorf=Astoria Hotel, he returned to Chicago where he founded the
Chicago to New York Concierge, Inc. and The Chicago to New York Concierge Newsletter - a
monthly e-newsletter sponsored by WHERE New York Magazine and the New York Hilton Family of
Hotels.
He is currently the concierge at the Sutton Place Hotel Chicago and the publisher/editor of
“Concierge Key Notes”, a monthly e-newsletter featuring Chicago events, tours, and industry
news that is distributed to hotel guests and a growing database of industry contacts nationwide.
Mark finds the gratitude of his peers most rewarding. In an article written for Hotel Business
Review (www.hotelececutive.com), contributing writer Marjorie Silverman highlighted Concierge
Key Notes as “one of the best newsletters written by a hotel concierge”. They have also been
featured in a concierge training seminars internationally.
For the past five years, Mark has been a member of Les Clefs d’Or USA , the elite national
organization of hotel lobby concierges. Les Clefs d’Or, pronounced as “lay clay door”, is French
and literally translates as “keys of gold”. The keys displayed on a concierge’s uniform lapels
assure travelers they are dealing with a seasoned professional, one who is dedicated to serving
the guests’ every need.
Mark’s goal is to make every visitor feel welcome, important, and comfortable. His personal
mission is to promote Chicago as a premier destination for travel and tourism while advancing
the branding and educational goals of Les Clefs d’Or.
