The fashion show was held in the renowned Grand Ballroom
of the Waldorf-Astoria on Park Avenue, New York City.
Sun in the Night collection conveys a look inspired of the
Japanese ancient legends.
Vibrant and iridescent colors inspired of the nature ensuring
a proper environment for oriental tales. Shantung,
charmeuse and chiffon silk play the leads converted to
voluminous silhouettes, draping, pleated and geometric

from Germany on the same boat many years ago, moved to Aurora, Illinois and first
met there and married!

Oscars® Invade Grand Central Terminal
Beverly Hills, CA – Oscar® fans in New York
can be first in line to see the actual Oscar
statuettes that will be presented to the Best
Actor and Best Actress winners at the 83rd
Academy Awards® on Sunday, February 27.
The statuettes will be part of the Academy of
Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ “Meet the
Oscars, Grand Central” at Vanderbilt Hall in
Grand Central Terminal. The exhibition will
open on Wednesday, February 23, with an
opening ceremony hosted by Oscar-winning
actress Whoopi Goldberg. Public viewing
hours are 1–7 p.m. on February 23, and 7–7 p.
m. through Sunday, February 27. Admission is
free.
“Meet the Oscars, Grand Central” will give
movie fans the opportunity to have their
picture taken holding an actual Oscar
statuette. In addition, the exhibition will
feature a display of Oscars in various stages
of completion, as manufactured by R.S. Owens
& Company in Chicago. The Best Picture
Oscar awarded to Billy Wilder for “The
Apartment” (1960) will also be on view.
On Friday, February 25, the statuettes
designated for this year’s Best Actor and Best
Actress will make their way back to Hollywood
where they will be reunited with the rest of the
Oscars to be presented on Oscar Night®.
Visitors who “check-in” at “Meet the Oscars,
Grand Central” via the Foursquare app on their
cell phone and show the screen to a “Meet the
Oscars” staffer will receive an official 83rd
Academy Awards poster. Guests who tweet
their “Meet the Oscars” photo along with the
hashtag #Oscars to @TheAcademy will be
entered to win a limited edition 83rd Academy
Awards Poster Collection.
Oscar fans in New York can also visit the
“Oscars Red Carpet Experience” at 1333
Broadway to take pictures with a virtual

Academy Awards for outstanding film
achievements of 2010 will be presented on
Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Kodak
Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and

"White Heat" Takes on NYC
Beverly Hills, CA – The Academy of Motion
Picture Arts and Sciences’ “Monday Nights
with Oscar®” series will celebrate film noir
with a screening of “White Heat” (1949) on
Monday, March 7, at 7 p.m. at the Academy
Theater at Lighthouse International in New
York City. Academy Writers Branch
member Richard LaGravenese (“The Fisher
King,” “Water for Elephants”) will introduce
the screening.
Directed by Raoul Walsh, “White Heat”
marked the return of James Cagney to the
gangster genre that made him a star.
Cagney portrays Cody Jarrett, a mother-
obsessed escaped convict and leader of a
ruthless gang of thieves. While plotting the
biggest heist of his life, Jarrett unwittingly
befriends an undercover cop (Edmond O’
Brien) and sets the stage for his own
downfall. Virginia Moll rounds out the cast
as the gangster’s wife.
The screenplay by Ivan Goff and Ben
Roberts features such memorable lines as
“Made it, Ma! Top of the world!” and was
based on a story by Virginia Kellogg, who
garnered an Academy Award® nomination
for Motion Picture Story. The print to be
screened is from the Academy Film Archive.
Tickets for “White Heat” are $5 for the
general public and $3 for Academy
members and students with a valid ID.

section of the website). Tickets may also
be purchased at the box office prior to the
event (subject to availability). All seating is
unreserved.
